Travel Information

Geneva Park is approximately 150km North of Toronto. It is expected that participants in Toronto will take one of the buses from the OCASI office or the bus from Mississauga. Participants coming from outside this area will have their travel expenses reimbursed, provided they use the cheapest means of available travel.

Traveling from Toronto

From Toronto
A charter bus has been arranged for participants leaving from Toronto. Assemble in front of the OCASI office, 110 Eglinton Ave. West (2 blocks west of Yonge and the Eglinton Subway station) before 9:00 am on October 20, 2008. Buses will depart for Geneva Park at 9:15 a.m. sharp.

Return Trip
The OCASI buses will leave Geneva Park on Wednesday, October 22 at 4:30 pm sharp, and arrive in Toronto at approximately 6:15 pm.  The bus will take you to the OCASI office.

From Outside Toronto

Participants from Central West, Southern, Sudbury, Central East, Southern, Western and Eastern Ontario regions must use the cheapest means of transportation.

You may choose to:

  • meet the charter bus at OCASI office at 9:00 am on October 20, 2008; or
  • take the train or bus; or
  • use car pools, mileage will be reimbursed ONLY when at least two people share a car

From Northern Ontario (excluding Sudbury)

Participants may travel by air. Please book your air ticket, and OCASI will reimburse the cost. Direct transportation from the airport to the Geneva Park Conference Centre must be arranged with Simcoe County Airport Service, at 1-800-461-7529 or 705-728-1148 at least one week prior to the arrival date. Alternately you can meet the bus at OCASI.

Other Travel Information

If your journey is longer than 6 hours in length and you are unable to arrive in time for the Opening Plenary (1:00 PM on Mon October 20), you may request to arrive one day early – the evening of Sunday October 19.  Please contact the Conference Assistant at azhang@ocasi.org after registering online, to make accommodation arrangements.

Driving Directions

From the Barrie/Toronto area
Take Highway 400 north to Barrie, then Highway 11 north to Orillia. At Orillia take the second exit, Highway 12 south to Rama Road (Simcoe County road 44). Turn left. Geneva Park is 10 km from the corner on the left-hand side.

From the Peterborough/Lindsay area
Take Highway 7 west to Highway 12 north. Travel 45 km on Highway 12 to Atherley. Turn right onto Rama Road (Simcoe County road 44). Geneva Park is 10 km from the corner on the left-hand side.

From the Huntsville area
Follow Highway 11 south to the Highway 169/Washago exit. Follow Highway 169 one km to Rama Road (Simcoe County road 44). Geneva Park is 10 km from the corner on the left-hand side.

From Eastern Ontario areas
Take Highway 401 west to Whitby. Take Highway12 north 95 km to Atherley. Turn right onto Rama Road (Simcoe County road 44). Geneva Park is 10 km from the corner on the left-hand side.

From Georgian Bay area
Take Highway 26 east through Stayner. Turn left onto County Road (Horseshoe Valley Road). Continue on 22 to Highway 12 (Prices’ Corners). Turn right onto highway 12. Bypass Orillia by taking Highway 11 south for 3 km exiting onto Highway 12 south. Take Highway 12 south to Rama Road (Simcoe County road 44). Turn left. Geneva Park is 10 km from the corner on the left-hand side.

Accomodations

All participants will be lodged in double rooms (shared accommodation) with shared bathroom facilities. You will be booked randomly with a colleague, unless you indicate your roommate choice when you register online. Due to the limited number of rooms available, we can only provide double occupancy accommodation.

Note: OCASI provided a charter bus in Toronto to and from the ED Forum.  If you travelled from Toronto by any other means, you are not eligible for travel claim reimbursement.

Registration Opens August 19

Registration for both the professional development conference and the executive directors forum opens on Tuesday, August 19th. Registration for these events is based in part on when the registration was submitted, so don’t wait too long before getting yourself online and registered.
