The goal of the OCASI Executive Directors Forum 2009 is to explore and share creative opportunities and models to respond more effectively to Citizenship and Immigration Canada’s Modernizing Settlement initiative, to address the settlement and integration needs of immigrants and refugees in Ontario through an inclusive and client-centered vision.
Why You Should Attend This Conference
The Forum gives Executive Directors and senior managers the opportunity to interact with other professional colleagues and with representatives from Citizenship and Immigration Canada and from the Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration. It is the continuation of the dialogue that began in 2005 to engage on the Canada Ontario Immigration Agreement (COIA), and to explore new possibilities for developing and delivering immigrant settlement services in Ontario.
The Forum is an opportunity to:
- Engage in a critical dialogue around broad policy issues as immigration increasingly changes the face of Canada
- Identify and prepare for emerging trends in the settlement service field
- Discuss innovative strategies that address systemic challenges facing immigrants and refugees
- Develop and enhance supportive regional networks among settlement service providers
- Build relationships with professional colleagues
- Acquire and exchange useful information and knowledge
Accessibility in Official Languages
Within the framework of official languages legislation and commitments, OCASI is proactively working to improve access in both English and French to its Exective Directors Forum. This year, Forum attendees will be able to participate in either one of the two official languages in Canada during activities to be held in the Geneva Park auditorium. Simultaneous interpretation equipment and services will be provided to this effect.
Participants are kindly reminded to pick up a headset before entering the auditorium in order to be able to follow comments made by attendees in either official language. The program of the 2009 Executive Directors Forum will be available in both languages.
OCASI looks forward to further improving access to its Forum in both official languages over the years to come.
